  3.         Thieves in parties...
  4. ---------------------------------------
  5.   Copyparties are events of fun having,
  6. meeting friends  and getting  new ones.
  7. But unfortunately there are some people
  8. who  don't  think  the same.  There are
  9. people,  who  STEAL  things  from other
  10. party-goers. What is this about?
  11.   In Finnish parties it hasn't been too
  12. bad a trouble - YET -. At DDG-digiparty
  13. someone stole from DDG several of their
  14. cartridges  and  in Byterapers-party  I
  15. was  stolen two cartridges.  Several of
  16. Those  small things have been stolen in
  17. numerous parties, because they fit into
  18. one's pocket easily.
  19.   But  at  Triangle's party  there were
  20. experts  working.  While  everybody was
  21. watching the demo competition there was
  22. someone working  and a lot of equipment
  23. was stolen.
  24.   - 4 (four!) Amiga 500s
  25.   - 8 (eight!) external drives
  26.   - 1 picture digitizer (Triangle's)
  27.   Is this how one should act in parties

  29. instead of  having just  fun? Also more
  30. thieving happened:Ydex/Hitech lost over
  31. 50  disks,  which had  for example  all
  32. their sources on them.
  33.   Why do  some people such? Why do they
  34. waste  everybody  else's party fun?  Is
  35. there a real need for doing so?
  36.   What can we do to avoid robbings? Not
  37. much. Best way is to bring nothing with
  38. you to parties, but it is impossible.Of
  39. course  you  can always have someone at
  40. your stand keeping an eye on your stuff
  41. so there's no chance for thieves.And if
  42. all of you have to go,ask your neighbor
  43. to watch so that no one takes them.
  44.   Is there a way to get things back? It
  45. is very difficult.  In fact, one's only
  46. chance is to catch the thief  when it's
  47. doing its job. After that,it's veryvery
  48. hard, actually impossible.Maybe you see
  49. familiar things later, at another party
  50. but can you be sure it was that guy who
  51. stole them?  He can  have sold  them to
  52. other guys as well.
  53.   There's  no  final cure  to  thieves.
  54. As long as  there is  private property,
  55. there will be thieves. Just be careful.
